Gown Selection – The Night Before

September 25, 2010 § 1 Comment

I’m going with an open mind for my gown fitting tomorrow. It’s not laziness or lack of enthusiasm. I don’t want to fill my head with how a perfect gown should look, and finds that nothing comes close after searching high and low for it.

But at the same time, there’s a risk of not knowing what to choose, and ends up with a selection that’s vaguely dissatifying, not to mention time wasting.

So, here’s where my entourage of female relatives come in. Girls, with your impeccable tastes, guide me down the right path. Don’t fail me tomorrow.

Here’s a list of things to take note.

  1. Wear Nubra. Why? Because you don’t want to be caught surprised at the unexpected decollage Omphhh on your wedding day.
  2. Wear top and bottoms that are easy to take off. It means clothes with front opening and loose bottoms.
  3. Bring the heels that you will be wearing on the wedding day.
  4. Wear contact lenses. My sis believes this will help us to better visualize the overall effect.
  5. Hall’s carpet color. If my gown is the same color as carpet color, it might fade into the surrounding. Though the chance of that is rather remote, but we brides got to be safe than sorry. See the photo below, my hotel’s carpet is red with gold twirling pattern.

Over the Weekend

The sunny island weather has always been hot and humid, but I think we hit a record high on Saturday.

We reached Cang Ai to discuss the photos at noon. By the time we were finished, we know we won’t survive the kite flying event at the Promontory, so we changed our plan to catch a movie instead. Unfortunately for my poor feet, the trip to both The Cathay and Plaza Sing did not yield any interesting films. But it did put 1 cup of water melon pineapple juice, 1 bowl of oyster mee sua, a mango yoghurt bubble tea and 6 pcs of sushi into our tummies. The glucose in our bodies must have started fermenting because we went back to my house for a quick nap, woke up late in the evening and missed a chance for an eye-opening view.

Well, the point for this post is

  • I have to shape up
  • Don’t wear new shoes on a day where no wheels are available
  • I’m better with short hair
  • Each-a-Cup in Plaza Sing pales in comparison to Ion’s
  • I’m so so glad we had chosen a lunch instead of dinner
  • Thank you dear for putting up with Ms Grouchy

And Next Sunday, it’s my gown selection :). Excited I am. May the force be with me.

Introducing our Solemnizer *Drum Roll*

LS (Ms Geek): Do you mind if we get Dr Phua Tan Tee to be our solemnizer?

PY (Runner): Is he your insurance agent? Ok dear, do you want me to write the email?

I’m meeting my insurance agent that evening. He must have thought he’s the one. Oh PY… you are spoiling me.

How should one write an email to invite a JP to be part of a wedding?

After a few awkward starts, I settled for a tone between writing to a boss and beloved uncle. Hey, it’s not easy to be respectful AND personable. Too respectful, you’ll end up too formal.  Too chummy, well, you got 2 remember this is not ur pri 6 bestie. I’m proud to say not one smiley appeared in my email 😛

When my JP replied with his consent, I was over the moon!

And here he is, Dr Phua Tan Tee.

Things to Do

Instead of a To-do list, I made a map of the essential tasks.

I’m feeling a sense of accomplishment from this map and running 4 rounds today.

That’s two pats on the back.

I love the details on this gown.

Or a fluffy skirt?

It’s hard to decide.
